Taiwan Forms High-Tech Alliance to Improve Industry Ties with Japan
August 03, 2006
In order to improve technological cooperation with Japanese enterprises, Taiwanese high-tech companies recently announced the inauguration of an organization named AHAA (Asia-Pacific High-Tech Alliance Association). More than 60 Taiwanese companies - including ASE, PowerChip, and Etron - have agreed to join this organization, which is made up of seven different working groups: semiconductor technology, optoelectronics-display, embedded technology, broadband technology, auto electronics, digital appliance, and energy technology. Frank Huang of PowerChip, the current chairman of AHAA, expressed his hope that this association could serve to strengthen the ties between Taiwanese and Japanese high-tech companies and facilitate technology transfer and licensing agreements.
